Boy, if ever there were a silent mantra that summed up all my inner thoughts leading into each weekend since my early thirties, “Drink like a Savage” just may be the one! Thank you, Savage Winery, for helping to give a voice to my inner, perpetually 21 year old self.
Full of Tiki ornamentation, Savage Winery offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere in a beautiful, picturesque, rolling hills setting in which to sample their wines hard ciders, and guest-tap, local microbrews. Located in Chaffee, NY, and on a working alpaca farm, they are the first farm winery in Erie County, as well as the first growler filling location in the tri-county area.
This is the type of place you want to come to if you’ve never been out tasting before. It’s an easy, scenic drive from Buffalo, NY; not too far, yet just far enough to ease away the tensions of city living. There’s nothing to be afraid of or intimidated by here, unless goats, sheep, and alpaca aren’t your thing! You won’t find any hoit or toit, let alone any pretentiousness. The people at Savage Winery are friendly, knowledgeable, and will treat you just like one of the family.
From watching a sports game on the flat screen, playing cornhole out on the lawn, or sipping one of their exclusive, housemade Loganberry wine or hop cider slushies in their outdoor tiki hut, this is a place you definitely want to ink onto your list of go-to places. It’s perfect for small groups of friends or family as they have beverage offerings for any palate.
Their unique specialties include sweet wines, non-grape, seasonal fruit wines, hard ciders, and refreshing alcoholic slushes perfect during the glorious summer months! Aside from those, they also have a select number of dry wines, as well as several local microbrews that they rotate on tap. All of these are offered in tasting flights so you can take your time here, breathe in some fresh farm air, and enjoy getting to know the simpler side of savagery in Western New York.
